Since the Basesystem.dmg is a file that contains some form of MacOS installer, it may only pretend it is such to fool users. In reality, the infection file of this virus is believed to be spread via e-mail by being uploaded as a seemingly legitimate document of what appears to be an important nature. I'm trying to use the BaseSystem.dmg to lay down a 2nd partition or Lion. I have in the parent config a 2nd partition created @ 2gb (when you install apple's default is 650mb), Journaled HFS+, checked This is a restore partition, selected the basesystem.dmg file, and checked re-image this poartition if it already exists. Run Disk Utility and expand BaseSystem.dmg on the flash drive formatted GUID (the 'Options') and Mac OS coffee (HFS +) 6. Copy the folder OS X Install ESD / Packages folder on the flash drive in the / System / Installation / replacing the file alias Packages. Copy to the root of the stick and BaseSystem.dmg Basesystem.chunklist of Install ESD. BaseSystem.dmg Packages machkernel Install Mac OS X Lion.app System private Library boot.efi usr. Looking inside of InstallESD.dmg, take note of two important files: Install Mac OS X Lion.app and BaseSystem.dmg.
